  • Tuesday, 27th March 2018 – Uganda Cranes Vs Malawi – 4:30 pm

*Both matches at Mandela National Stadium (Entry Fees: 5000/- per match)

It is now a full house in the Uganda Cranes camp ahead of two international friendly matches against Sao Tome and Principe and Malawi at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The latest arrivals included Portuguese based left back Alex Kakuba (C.D. Feirense), Geofrey ‘Baba’ Kizito (Than Quảng Ninh, Vietnam) and stylish forward William Luwagga Kizito (CSM Politehnica Lași, Romania).

The trio trained with the rest of the teammates on Wednesday in a double session at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The team started training on Monday evening under the coaches Sebastien Desabre, assistant Mathias Lule, goalkeeping coach Sadiq Wassa (in for Fred Kajoba) and a new physician, Gerome D’Antonio

Apart from Khalid Aucho who traveled to India to finalize with his transfer documentations, the rest of the players are available for selection.

Team captain and first choice goalkeeper  Dennis Onyango of Mamelodi Sundowns is among the foreign based players who turned up in camp first and looks forward towards the two international friendlies, the first matches for new coach Desabre at home.

Local legion

There are five local based players on the team; Timothy Awany and Derrick Nsibambi (KCCA), Tadeo Lwanga and Milton Karisa (Vipers) as well as Masavu’s Abraham Ndugwa.

The team training resumes on Thursday at Mandela National Stadium.

Meanwhile, a 30 man delegation of Sao Tome and Principe is expected to arrive in Uganda on the night of Friday, 23rd March 2018.

The match against Sao Tome and Principe will be handled by FIFA referees from Tanzania while Rwandese officials will handle Uganda against Malawi.

The players and officials are currently accommodated at Ivy’s Hotel in Wakaliga, Kampala.
