The Flames of Malawi frustrated Uganda Cranes in a game of few chances as they two sides played out a barren draw at Namboole.

It was the second international friendly match for Uganda in four days and Desabre made three changes to the team that started in the 3-1 win over Sao Tome and Principe.

Kawowo Sports’ Ismael Kiyonga rates Desabre’s soldiers on the day.

Denis Onyango 7.0: Once again proved his worth with two good saves and was always in command of his backline.

Denis Iguma 5.0: Right back may not be his natural position but did well to stop Malawian attacks and was also willing to play that forward pass.

Godfrey Walusimbi 7.0: Arguably the Cranes’ best outfield player on the evening. Defended well, entertained the crowd and made attacking runs down the flank.

Murushid Jjuuko 5.0: Strong in the tackle, good in the air and also read the game well.

Bevis Mugabi 5.0: Didn’t look as nervous as against lowly Sao Tome and used his big frame well to win physical contests. Launched some attacks with his trade mark long ball but still work in progress.

Hassan Wasswa 5.0: Uncomfortable under pressure and often made negative passes but gave the backline cover and used his physic well to thwart Flames in midfield.

Taddeo Lwanga 5.0: Struggled against the fast Malawian midfielders at the initial stages but later grew in the game and was always willing to fight for the ball. He also tried to play forward passes after the break.

Milton Karisa 4.0: Bad day in office for the Vipers lad and was always let down by a poor first touch and inability to control the ball on the wet Namboole surface.

Emmanuel Okwi 4.5: Started well but later waned. Nevertheless, there was little service for him and partner Sentamu on the day.

Yunus Sentamu 5.0: Good positional sense and looked deadly in possession but like Okwi, he didn’t get enough service.

Joseph Ochaya 5.0: A different player from one we saw against Sao Tome and Principe. Struggled to have an impact although he slightly improved after the break.

Substitutes

Abraham Ndugwa 5.0: Whipped in a couple of inviting low crosses from the right and looked unfazed by the occasion.

Luwagga Kizito 5.0: He had a few sublime touches and was willing to take on opponents but with little help from opponents.

Derrick Nsibambi 5.0: Hardly showed up in physical battles but still troubled the Malawian backline with his movements. Also headed over the bar.
