Experienced center forward Brian Umony has become the latest Ugandan footballer to join paid ranks in the India top flight division.

Umony, 29, put pen to paper at India Premier League outfit Gokulam Kerala Football Club for a one-year deal.

The development was confirmed by FIFA approved player representative, Ronald ‘Ronnie Santos’ Niwagira on Tuesday.

The former Naguru Avis striker who graduated through the ranks to KCCA and later St George in the Ethiopian Premier League has been sidelined for a long spell after a career threatening injury while on duty on duty in Ethiopia.

Of late, he was training with parent team KCCA and played a series of build up matches with the club on the Kenyan tour.

Umony has also previously played at South African side, SuperSport United and US based Portland Timbers.

He joins a bandwagon of Ugandans in India to include Musa Mudde who is also at Gokulam Kerala.

Another Ugandan center forward Henry Kisekka recently transfered from Gokulam Kerela to Mohun Bagan Athletic Club.

Midfielder Aucho Khalid earns his bread and butter at East Bengal and Kezironi Kizito has already built a cult status at Kerala Blasters.
