Express Football Club suffered their first defeat of the 2020-21 Uganda Premier League season at the hands of UPDF on Tuesday.

Alex Kitata scored the lone goal of the match early midway the first half of the encounter at Bombo Military Stadium that the army side protected to the final whistle.

Express head coach Wasswa Bbosa took lessons from the defeat top of which was acknowledging the league is a marathon and not a sprint.

“I think the players did their best but we just couldn’t come out on top,” Bbosa said after the defeat.

“There is a lot to learn from this loss one of which being that the league is a marathon. The games come in fast, so such bleeps are expected but what matters most is our reaction in the next game.”

Defeat sent Express to third place in the table by the end of Matchday 13 following URA and Vipers wins against Police and SC Villa respectively.

Bbosa is confident the Red Eagles will bounce back against struggling Kyetume who they host at Wankulkuku on Saturday.

“I can assure you we shall bounce back better starting with our next game at home”
