After the 2019 FIBA U16 Women’s African Championship, Uganda’s Maria Najjuma was given an opportunity to grow her skills at an NBA Africa Academy.
Najjuma had been named in the tournament Allstar five as Uganda finished fifth, earning a place NBA Academy Africa Women’s Training Camp was held in Saly, Senegal in November that year.
The 18-year-old center was selected among the best during the camp and now will be joining the academy, a path that could lead her to the best basketball schools in the world.
“It’s a pleasure coaching and working with Najjuma Maria. She dominated rebounds, steals, and scoring in the 2019 U16 Zone 5 and Afro Championship.
“I wish her all the very best and pray she makes Uganda proud,” said Uganda’s Junior Gazelles coach Roger Sserunyigo.
NBA Academy Africa is an elite basketball training center in Senegal for the top male and female prospects from throughout Africa.
