The StarTimes Uganda Premier League 2022/23 season broke off at mid-way to allow Uganda Cranes prepare well for the Africa Nations Championships.
So far, they have been some surprises with some teams occupying positions not many expected but it is competitive at the top with over five teams in for the title as just five points separate first from fifth.
Here is my Team of the Season so far in the season (4-3-3):
GK: Alfred Mudekereza (Vipers)

One could argue with a few names here but Mudekereza has been an outstanding addition in front of goal for Vipers.
The Congolese import has made some classic saves and not conceded more than a goal in a single game and is partly the reason why Vipers has conceded the fewest goals (five) so far.
Defence – Matsiko, Gift, Wasswa and Mubiru
RB: Grant Matsiko (Wakiso Giants)

Matsiko has been defensively solid and also contributed offensively with two assists thanks to his inch-perfect crosses.
The right back’s performances so far have earned him a national team summon and rightly so, ranks among the best in the division in the position.
LB: Isa Mubiru (Vipers)

Unlike previous seasons, this is a campaign devoid of performing left backs but Mubiru takes the slot slightly ahead of the rest.
He has become a key member of the Venoms side contributing offensively and defensively.
CB: Gift Fred (SC Villa)

Hard to imagine where SC Villa would be on the table with Fred at the heart of defence.
The club vice-captain has provided leadership, defensive solidity and ability to read the game which explains why the Jogoos have the second meanest backline that has let in just nine goals.
CB: Geoffrey Wasswa (KCCA)

After overcoming an injury that kept him out last season, Wasswa has been ever-present at centre half for KCCA.
His versatility can see him play in front of defence but he has established himself as one of the best centre backs in the division with his ability to defend well, help the team in attack and also read the game well.
Midfielders – Bukenya, Mugume and Kasule
CM: Lawrence Bukenya (Wakiso Giants)

Right from his young days at KCCA, Bukenya has always been a brilliant player but he is proving to get better each season.
He is organiser in a Wakiso Giants exciting midfield with his ability to win the ball back with his intelligent positioning and also contributed offensively.
He has initiated attacks from deep and also racked up an assist already.
CM: Ashraf Mugume ‘Fadiga’ (KCCA)

Mugume is arguably the best box to box midfielder in the league with his tireless work rate and ability to cover a lot of ground.
His ball distribution is excellent and joins the offensive part and has contributed a couple of goals and assists to his name.
CM: Ibrahim Kasule (Wakiso Giants)

His exceptional passing ability and creativity has made him one of the most exciting players in the league so far.
Kasule has been involved in over 50% of the goals Wakiso Giants have scored this season with five goals and as many assists.
He makes the game look so easy and makes the impossible possible when he is on the pitch.
Forwards: Karisa, Kayiwa and Ndugwa
ST: Milton Karisa (Vipers)

The Vipers skipper occupies the right side of attack in my team for his tireless work rate, ability to beat his man with pace and power, creating chances for his teammates as well as scoring goals himself with three and four respectively to his name so far.
ST: Allan Kayiwa (Express FC)

Without Kayiwa, seven-time champions Express FC are half a team and it’s hard to imagine where they would be on the log without his goals.
Kayiwa has contributed goals from open play, set-pieces and from one-on-one situations.
ST: Karim Ndugwa (BUL FC)

The best central striker in the league at the moment with good hold-up play, bringing his teammates into the game and also scored goals from almost all situations.
His ability to get at the end of crosses and through balls makes him the ultimate centre forward of the first season so far and has scored and assisted fellow teammates.
Honourable Mentions
Emmanuel Kalyowa (BUL), Hussein Ssenoga (Express), Allan Okello (KCCA), Allan Mugalu (Arua Hill), Nelson Ssenkatuka (Bright Stars), Fred Amaku (Maroons), Hilary Mukundane (Vipers), Alex Kitaata (Gaddafi) and Yunus Sentamu (Vipers)

Nice job bro keep it up.
