Vipers suffered a home defeat in the Caf Champions League losing 1-0 to Tanzania’s Simba at Kitende under floodlights.

Baka Inonga Henock pounced in the first half to strike home the only goal of the game but how did each of the Vipers’ player with the opportunity to play rated on the evening.

Alfred Mudekereza 6.0: Failed to read the direction of the ball from a free kick that resulted into the winning goal but otherwise did a good job with 2-3 saves.

Ashraf Mandela 5.0: Returned to the starting XI after missing out in the last couple of games. Exposed by the Kibu and Chama at times but willing to support in attack.

Disan Galiwango 5.0: An improvement on the one that featured in the defeat to Raja Casablanca on day one on his return to the team. Sacrificed for Tetty when Bianchi went out to search for the elusive goal.

Livingstone Mulondo 5.0: Solid as usual but faced a tough opponent in Kibu and Moses Phiri.

Hilary Mukundane 7.0: Arguably the best performer from the Venoms as he made important blocks to deny the visitors a second goal. Headed just wide at the opposite end.

Siraje Sentamu 6.0: Willing to play against all odds but given a tough evening by Burundi international Ntibazonkiza who was a constant threat.

Karim Watambala 4.0: Replaced by Mwenge at halftime after struggling to impress against the experienced Kanoute and Muzamir Yassin.

Bright Anukani 5.0: Denied space and time when in possession to make that defence-splitting pass by the Simba defensive midfielders.

Lumala Abdu 5.0: Electric whenever he got possession but his last pass let him down often. Went off after the first half.

Milton Karisa 5.0: Tested Aishi Manula with Vipers’ only shot on target but unfortunately went off injured moments before the break.

Yunus Sentamu 6.0: Reacted slow to Manula’s spill in the first half and despite his willingness to give everything, he lacked service.

Substitutes

Ibrahim Orit 5.0: Went down easily when he had an opportunity to shoot late in the game.

Serge Mwenge 3.0: Not even a single improvement on Watambala’s performance.

Martin Kizza 4.0: Too many unnecessary touches and lacked urgency.

Desire Tetty 3.0: Hard to imagine why he keeps getting minutes on the pitch.

  1. Those foreign players signed by Vipers are a complete waste, they have added nothing to the team. I wish Vipers could sign more experienced players that are tried and tested in the CAF competitions.Hoping with time they can improve.
