Overview:

President Museveni in May assented to the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, 2023 to make it law in Uganda a move that was hailed by many Ugandans including the Speaker of Parliament Hon. Anita Among who called the move a bold one to protect Ugandan culture despite stern warnings from the western world where the practice is regarded a human right.

Former SC Villa and Simba gem Hassan Kagwa alias Hassan Sas is one of the many footballers the police is hunting for acts of homosexuality, Kawowo Sports has learnt.

Since the passing of the Ant-Homosexuality act, several footballers especially products of SC Villa youth side, Jogoo Young have reportedly been on the run with authorities pointing fingers at them.

Kagwa, who started his career at Villa Park before earning promotion to the side is reported to have been involved in acts of not only involving others but also recruiting others into the LGBTQ.

“We have a long list of suspects and Kagwa is one of them but he has of recent escaped all our traps,” a source at Katwe Police Station said. “But we have some people in our custody that are being investigated and have given us leads on Kagwa and his accomplices although at the moment, his whereabouts are unknown,” a source added.

Former SC Villa team manager Chris Mubiru became the first victim of the Anti-Homosexuality act 2023 when he was arraigned in court.

It’s said that Mubiru, who is believed to recruited several Jogoo young players into the acts had carnal knowledge with a victim Emmanuel Nyanzi and court proved beyond reasonable doubt that he was guilty.

Mubiru enticed many footballers including Kagwa when he was a budding youngster at Villa’s academy, The Jogoo Young.

Although Kagwa later played for Simba after leaving SC Villa, his behavior remained questioned until he retired from the game.

In fact, it is believed that his contract at Simba, a team attached to the Uganda’s army was terminated over such acts and that literally forced him into retirement.

Rt. Hon Anita Annet Among with her speech

“I thank His Excellency, the president, for his steadfast action in the interest of Uganda. With a lot of humility, I thank my colleagues the Members of Parliament for withstanding all the pressure from bullies and doomsday conspiracy theorists in the interest of our country. By their action, we have lived by our motto, for God and our country,” Among said.

“We shall always stand for and promote the interest of the people of Uganda. I now encourage the duty bearers under the law to execute the mandate bestowed upon them in the Anti-Homosexuality Act. The people of Uganda have spoken, and it is your duty to now enforce the law in a fair, steadfast, and firm manner.”

In August this year, former Express, KCCA and UPDF defender Ronnie Kisekka was arrested for the same cases.

Kisekka is also a former player with Jogoo Young where Kagwa also played.
