Sunday Fixtures
- Division I: Ceylon Lions v Kutchi Tigers – Lugogo
- Division II: Budo v Tornado – Budo
Top spot in the local premier league will be up for grabs when Ceylon Lions and Kutchi Tigers lock horns on Sunday at Lugogo Oval.
Ceylon Lions started the season with a win against Tornado B while Kutchi Tigers defeated Patidar last weekend.
Ceylon Lions came close to winning the league in the Aziz Damani dominant years and this year without the Aziz Damani franchise sides they fancy their chances of picking up the coveted title.
The Kamengo based side is yet to play at their home ground in Kamengo but even away from home they seem to have no issues.
Siraje Nsubuga was the star with a six wicket haul in the last outing and the rising cricket cranes star knows that more performances like this will catch the attention of the selectors ahead of the World Cup.
Kutchi Tigers finished 3rd last season and must be feeling inspired this year without the Aziz Damani sides. A side never with any star power but a great sum of the parts, they might be slight favorites in this encounter given their resilience as a group.
Kutchi Tigers, Nyakasura and Ceylon Lions are currently tied on the same number of points at the top with Ceylon Lions in top spot because of a superior net run rate.
In the Championship, Budo will need a good result against Tornado to reignite their season as they have lost two games so far this season to Avengers and Soroti City and another loss will compound more misery to their season.
Tornado was in a no show in their first game of the season against SKLPS and hopefully the show up this weekend.
