The beauty of football lies along its thrilling and magnetic appeal to the masses of either gender cutting across the different social statues and varying age brackets.
Such was the bold case at the Kikuube playground in Nakifuuma as a select set of active and retired Uganda Cranes players engaged in a charity duel against Nakifuma Select courtesy of Sulaiman Kiwanuka, a vivid sports personality, businessman-cum-politican.

The final result not withstanding (active and retired Uganda Cranes players won 3-1), there was joy to the hundreds of thousands of spectators who graced this friendly contest.
There was a lot to celebrate as the spectators had a “rare” glimpse of their favourite stars smartly clad in the different jerseys.

The fancy dribbles, explicit complete passes and the joy of celebrating four goals on the sunny afternoon mesmerized many.
Vipers’ forward Dan Muzeeyi Sserunkuuma scored a brace with retired Hassan Mubiru (penalty) getting the other goal for the legends.
Abbey Oketcho got the consolation for Nakifuuma Select team that was captained by Kiwanuka himself.

“I was raised by 5 parents and football was one of them. Therefore I must also do the same for the others that through football, other Kiwanukas’ are raised. Each Ex-International here had alot to do in their program but they are here for passion and deliver. Many of those you haven’t seen today, they are not here because of tight schedules but we will see them in the next game of a kind. My dream of making Nakifuma the Brazil of Uganda will come true. We must ensure that all best players should be in Nakifuma like we saw around 1996, Naggalama was the center of football. All the best academies should be in Nakifuma. Am building a stadium located in Nsaji and now on stage 4 of development. It sits on 27 acres of land, we did the ground leveling and we made all plans which we forwarded to Mukono for approval and it was a success. Now we are on search for sponsors because there is no big facility of this nature that can stand as a one man army without partners.” Sulaiman Kiwanuka.

“I thank Sulaiman Kiwanuka for the good organization and passion. I played for express FC for 17yrs and till now I hold a record for featuring for one club and am now serving in FUFA. We have Ex-Internationals of 1990s but these are for 2000s. So us who played in 90s will organize for you another one which will be hosted in Namboole so soon.” Edward Kalungi, team manger Retired and active Uganda Cranes players

” I thank Mr Kiwanuka for never giving up and doing his best to ensure we get an amazing ceremony and the first in the region. I played for Kasawo SS in the region, before moving to Kitende through ranks of Mawokota Ssaza and Sports Club Villa. So I hold good memories for these areas because that’s where my story began from.” Emmanuel Arnold Okwi remarked.
