Uganda Premier League outfit Express FC has appointed Baker Mbowa as their new head coach on a two-year deal.
The club confirmed Mbowa’s appointment on Monday evening, replacing Alex Isabirye who threw in the towel last week.
“The club wishes to announce Abubaker Mbowa as the new head coach on a two-year contract with immediate effect,” reads a statement from the club.
Isabirye resigned last week, citing poor working environment with reports indicating players have gone months without pay.
The club is winless in their last six outings including the Uganda Cup elimination by BUL FC over the weekend.
Mbowa who has previously coached at Proline FC and Soltilo Bright Stars FC will therefore be tasked to offer immediate remedy and try to help the team return to winning ways.
He comes on board with Suleiman Mutyaba, a former Express FC player as his assistant.
If not postponed, the first game for the duo will be against arch rivals SC Villa on 9th March 2024.
