Cricket Cranes will be medal hopefuls at the African Games after naming a full-strength side for the inaugural appearance.
The men’s cricket tournament at the African Games will run from March 16th – 23rd in Accra.
The side will be led by Brian Masaba at the tournament as captain.
Uganda is in group A alongside South Africa, Kenya and Ghana. Craig Williams will join the team as a batting consultant, a role he served in during the T20 World Cup Qualifiers.
Cosmas Kyewuta returns to the side after over a year out with back issues and this tournament should help him get back into match fitness ahead of the World Cup. His return means that Uganda will be pushing for pace with Juma Miyagi and Bilal Hassun also in the squad. Henry Ssenyondo, Frank Nsubuga and Alpesh Ramjani will be slow bowling options for the team.
The batting will be marshalled by Roger Mukasa and Simon Ssesazi at the top of the order with Robinson Obuya and Ronald Lutaaya capable assistants in case they are required. The all-rounders Kenneth Waiswa, Dinesh Nakrani and Masaba will give the technical team a selection headache as they try to find a balance in the playing XI.
Uganda will start its campaign against their East African rivals Kenya on Sunday followed by Ghana and then complete the group games against South Africa.
