As was the case when Ghana beat Zimbabwe for Uganda to have one hand on the Rugby 7s gold medal, Zimbabwe have beaten Burkina Faso for Uganda to clinch it.
Zimbabwe beat Burkina Faso, 19-00, to keep Uganda out of reach of the six competitors even before Uganda faced Kenya in the final match.
Nonetheless, Uganda went ahead to beat Kenya by 21-14 points. The latter scored first before Denis Etwau responded to level matters. Philip Wokorach kicked the conversion.
Wokorach then lit the final match on fire with a hat trick of brilliant solo tries for Uganda to lead by 21-07.

However, Uganda loosened the noose around Kenya’s neck in the closing moments. The Kenyans needed no second invitation to score a try and snatch the bronze medal from Burkina Faso’s grasp.
The match ended 21-14 and Uganda concluded an unbeaten campaign in Accra, Ghana.
