The highly anticipated clash between two giants URA and Vipers on match day 22 will be played at MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo and not Mehta Grounds, Lugazi.
This was confirmed by the UPL secretariat in a statement on Wednesday that also saw a little adjustments in the next round fixtures due to Uganda Cranes friendly matches.
“The UPL Secretariat is in receipt of a letter dated 14th March 2024 from URA FC notifying us that Mehta Stadium is to be revamped to a cricket facility in preparation for the forth coming ICC world Cup,” read a statement in parts.
“It’s on this note that URA FC has requested M#168 URA FC Vs Vipers SC be played at MTN Omondi Stadium-Lugogo as they secure an alternative home ground.”
The statement however didn’t elaborate on whether Lugogo is going to be the permanent home of the four-time league champions at least until end of the season.
“Relatedly the Secretariat has made some adjustments to allow the players that traveled on the Cranes squad some recovery time.”
