Overview:
Each of the 18 Masaza team will be represented by three to six cyclists per leg. The cyclists will ride in two categories; road and ordinary bikes across varying distances and laps to be covered. The grand finale will come on 16th November 2024 along the Ring Road, Lubiri in Kyadondo Ssaza.

The 2024 Buganda Kingdom cycling championship will commence on Sunday, 14th April with the opening leg in Buleemezi Ssaza (Luweero).
This was confirmed during a press briefing addressed by the Buganda Kingdom minister of youth, sports and arts Owek. Ssalongo Robert Sserwanga at Bulange, Mengo in Kampala on Tuesday, 9th April 2024.
Owek. Sserwanga urged the different Masaza heads to organize their respective riders and teams to have a successful championship.
“We are having 2024 Buganda Masaza cycling championship. We start with Bulemeezi then Ssingo, Ssese, Buddu and the grand finale in November at the Ring Road (Lubiri) in Kyadondo. I urge the different team leaders to organize their cyclists and have a successful championship” Owek. Sserwanga remarked.

The minister also confirmed a working team to help organize a successful event. The organizing committee is headed by Mathias Lukwago.
Lukwago promised a successful event, urging sponsors to come on board with a target to promote domestic tourism.
“We expect a successful Buganda Kingdom Cycling championship which will present opportunities to the different people in the industry. I politely urge partners and sponsors to come on board to support the tranquil organization. We believe this is a great platform to promote domestic tourism within Buganda Kingdom and Uganda at large” Lukwago noted.
The organizing committee also has Ahmed Ssemwanga Kabogoza (secretary) and Isah Kimbugwe (public relations).

On Sunday, the start and finishing point for the Cycling championship will be at the Edema Hardware, Luweero.

The road bikes cluster will cover 90 KM (3 laps) for men with the women covering 60 KM (2 laps).
Those riding the ordinary bikes will cover 60 KM (2 laps) for the men and the women will cover 30 KM ( 1 lap).


Other legs:
After the opening championship in Bulemeezi Ssaza, the riders will have their second leg in Ssingo Ssaza (Mityana) on 7th July 2024.
The third leg will be hosted by Ssese Ssaza at the Ssese Islands on 9th September 2024 with the third leg in Masaka (Buddu Ssaza) on Sunday, 6th October 2024.
The grand finale will come on 16th November 2024 along the Ring Road, Lubiri in Kyadondo Ssaza.
Besides cycling, Buganda Kingdom is also actively engaged in different sports as football, athletics (Kabaka Birthday run), water sports (canoeing and kayaking), netball, volleyball, traditional sports as Ludo, Omweso and wrestling, among others.
