A fresh chapter in history of Uganda's football was inked and perfectly scripted amid excitement from the delighted fans as SC Villa returns to continental football in the CAF Champions League.
Kampala city and elsewhere in the country is officially blue after Sports Club Villa Jogoo won their record extending 17th title in the national football league, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
It was an euphoric moment and total camaraderie as the Jogoos rallied to outsmart NEC 2-0 during the final day of the season at the MTN Omondi stadium on Saturday, 18th May 2024.
Two second half goals by Charles “Neymar” Lwanga and Hakim Kiwanuka past goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan won the day for SC Villa, who only needed victory to be declared champions.
A sea of people including the FUFA president Hon. Moses Magogo, StarTimes CEO Bruce Aogus, Katikiro of Buganda Owek. Peter Mayiga, global music star Eddie Kenzo witnessed this momentous occasion.
Kenzo celebrated along with the fans moments after the final whistle before he embarks on a grueling US music tour, a perfect send off.

SC Villa had secured their 17th league title and halted their 20-year national championship drought finishing with 57 points, one ahead of BUL and Vipers SC.
BUL nailed the coffin for rivals Busoga United after a 3-0 win at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
At St Mary’s Stadium – KItende, Vipers rose to the occasion with a convincing 4-1 home victory over the Ankole Lions, Mbarara City.
Another game of equal relevance was the 4-0 win for Kitara against Gadaffi as the Solider Boys suffered relegation on the final day of the season.
That said, Busoga United and Gadaffi joined the already demoted Arua Hill Sports Club to the second tier division.

The Pay TV giants acquired the copyright for 10 football season starting 2028/2029 season. Through her flagship local sports channel, Sanyuka Prime, StarTimes was able to televise a total of 145 league matches live, setting the record in Uganda’s TV games in a single season.
Sanyuka prime is a local television channel exclusive on StarTimes platforms that broadcasts StarTimes UPL, selected Bundesliga matches, trendy movies and other related sports content around the globe. It’s on Channel 251 and 238 on antenna and Satellite decoder respectively.
The 2023-2024 season will go down in history as one that produced thrills, magic moments and definitely fresh talents on board.
The unpredictability of the champion and the two clubs to be relegated until the final day of the season were key outstanding moments.
