Men:
- Leader: Joseph Cwinya-ai – 67
- T2: Ibrahim Bagalana – 72
- T2: Elton Thembo – 72
Ladies:
- Leader: Judith Komugisha – 75
- 1st Runners up: Meron Kyomugisha – 77
- 2nd Runners up: Peace Kabasweka – 78
The opening round of the 2024 Kabaka Coronation Anniversary Golf tournament was held on the morning of Thursday, 25th July at the par-72 Uganda Golf Club, Kitante in Kampala city.
Uganda national team captain Joseph “Okadda” Cwinya-ai established a 5-shot lead with an astonishing 5-under-67 gross mark during the first 18 holes.
Cwinya-ai took the advantage over the 31-man field coming to the final two rounds of this world amateur golf ranking tournament.
Two other national team players Ibrahim Bagalana and Elton Thembo were level par (72) for the joint second place.




Morris Ashaba (73), Titus Okwong (73), Micheal Tumusiime (73), Joshua Ssenabulya (73), Peter Tumusiime (74), Andrew Ssekibejja (74), Ian Kalema (74), John Musimenta (74) and Ibra Ssemakula (74) are all within the leading top 12 positions.
Ladies:
The ladies wing had 8 ladies in competition with Judith Komugisha, a member of the ladies national team leading with 3-over-75.



She is closely followed by the long-hitting Meron Kyomugisha with 5-over 77 and the reigning Uganda Amateur Ladies open winner Peace Kabasweka with 6-over 78.
Rest Nalutaaya (86), left hander Gloria Mbaguta (87), Harriet Kitaka (88), Robinah Angom (88) and Lillian Koowe (89) all completed the first round.
Round two of the gross players is for Thursday afternoon ahead of the final round on Friday, 26th July 2024.

This year’s Kabaka Coronation Anniversary golf championship teed off with the caddies open on Monday.
Bruce Gomushabe and Robinah Angom won the caddies open that attracted 80 players (68 men and 12 ladies).


The main Coronation open shall be held on Saturday, 27th July 2024 at the course named after the famous Kitante stream.
Sponsors as Crown Beverages Limited, Case Medicare, Equity Bank and others have come up to support this tournament.
