Paris 2024 Olympics (Rowing):

Women’s single sculls (Semi-final E/F 2):

  • Winner: Nihed Benchadli (Algeria) – 8:34:67 – 22
  • Runners up: Grace Kathleen Noble (Uganda) – 8:38:70 – 29
  • 2nd Runners up:  Evidelia Jarquin Gonzalez (Nicaragua) – 8:43:78 – 26
  • 4th: Majdouline El Allaoui (Morocco) – 8:49:70-23

Uganda’s female rower Grace Kathleen Noble finished second in the E/F semi-final 2 race at the Nautical St Flat water body in Paris city, France.

Noble, 29, covered the 2000m distance in the women’s single sculls for a period of 8:38:70 on Monday morning.

This race was won by 22-year-old Algerian Nihed Benchadli (8:34:67).

Evidelia Jarquin Gonzalez, 26 from Nicaragua came third with a timing of 8:43:78.

Morocco’s Majdouline El Allaoui (23 years old) was fourth with a time of 8:49:70.

This was the third race for Noble at the on-going Olympic Games.

Her best time at the Olympics 8:08:90 came during the first race in heat one where she dropped to the repechage.

In the repechage, she finished third with a timing of 8:15:10.

During the Tokoyo 2020, Noble became the first Ugandan to row at the prestigious Olympics Games.

Qualifying for Paris 2024 is another historic feat for the rower who aspires to inspire hundreds of young rowers back in Uganda.

Meanwhile, the semi-final E/F 1 was won by Cuba’s Yariulvis Cobas (32 years) with a time of 8:36:16, coming ahead of Singapore’s 36-year-old Saiyidah Aisyah Mohamed Rafa’ee  (8:47:41) and Soaad Alfaqaan (Kuwait) who had 9:01:78.

Togolese Akoko Komlanvi was fourth placed with 9:16:28.
