Uganda Rugby Cranes secured fifth place in the 2024 Rugby Africa Cup after overcoming Senegal 34-31 in a nail-biting encounter at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The decisive moment came when Joseph Aredo successfully converted a sudden death penalty after normal time had ended 26-all and Extra Time 31-all.

It was the only match that went into extra time during the tournament and arguably the longest match in the history of the Africa Cup.
