Uganda Cranes fan having happy times in the stands

There has been a continuous outcry from a section of Ugandans about the gate charges FUFA ask for anyone who loves to watch Uganda Cranes home games.

For long, many football fanatics have believed the entrance fee FUFA asks for is way too high in addition to the amount not being fixed for a couple of games. For instance, a regular ticket for the double FIFA World Cup Qualifier fixtures against Botswana and Algeria in June last year went for Ugx 40,000.

The next home game was a 2025 AFCON Qualifier against Congo played on 9th September 2024 and FUFA charged Ugx 25,000 for the ordinary tickets. The same amount was maintained for the game against South Sudan while the most recent game at Namboole came against South Africa in November last year and fans paid Ugx 30,000 for the ordinary tickets.

For the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Guinea on Tuesday, FUFA’s charges are as follows;

  • Regular – Ugx 30,000
  • Silver – Ugx 50,000
  • Platinum – Ugx 150,000
  • Platinum Family of 6 – Ugx 900,000
  • Platinum Family of 8 – Ugx – 1,000,0000

How much is charged elsewhere?

Kawowo Sports made a survey on what the gate charges look like across the continent.

Our neighbours Rwanda were in action on Friday at Amahoro Stadium playing against Nigeria’s Super Eagles. The ordinary tickets went for as low as 1000 Rwandan Francs (for the upper bowl) which is Ushs 2,581 by the time of publication of this story.

Kenya hosts Gabon this Sunday at the newly refurbished Nyayo National Stadium and the game is sold out. The Ordinary tickets for this match were sold at Kshs 300 which translates into Ugx 8,490.

As South Africa played against neighbours Lesotho on Friday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, ordinary tickets were sold at 70 Rands which is Ugx 14,064.

The Blacks Stars of Ghana outwitted Chad 5-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday and the National Sports Authority (NSA) fixed the ordinary ticket prices for the popular stand at 10 Ghanaian Cedi which is Ugx 2,364.64.

Elsewhere, Botswana charged 20 Pula (Ugx 5,407) for their FIFA World Cup Qualifier match against Algeria played in Francistown.

In Mali, home games played at Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako usually go for 1000 West Africa CFA Franc which equates to Ugx 6,063.

Zimbabwe charged 50 Rands (Ugx 10,089) for their game against Benin played on Thursday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Nigeria’s upcoming game against Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo will see ordinary tickets go for 2000 Naira which is Ugx 4,729.

  1. Many organs have taken Ugandans for granted. Honestly why a gate collection shud be at 25ks ugx ? Ugandans are very peaceful people in other countries u can’t charge such and go a way with it.
This kind manipulation is not in fufa alone,it’s every where bit in super market, hospitals, hospality industry. You ask yourself questions abantu ba going wa? Who wil stand for supporters, consumers.

  2. Yes it’s the most expensive yet they still get like 20billions per year from the government

  3. That is why Uganda cranes is not performing well because people watch it while crying for their money,Fufa should style up!

  4. That money sounds small until you compare it with the results and performance you’re going to watch in Nambole then you compare it with what other countries are charging then you will realise that Magogo is a thief. Rwanda vs Nigeria 2k?

  5. Sometimes you wonder how our football governing body thinks, instead of lowering the entrance fees to first attract many fans who have given up back to watching our national team, they are busy sending away fans by increasing the fares.who bewitched uganda????

  6. Our country is being led by Mafias in every sector now see this fufa broad day robbery against football lovers

  7. The Fufa marketing department needs to research their main target market’s financial capacity for the product which is football. Starting with the Uganda premier league games as bench mark, how many buy tickets to watch the games in big stadiums like nakivubo to even fill half of it?

Charging a higher price to maximize profits has a negative impact on the match day attendance contributing to less cheering from the crowd thus average results

They rather need to maximize sales and boost on the attendance because at the end of the day it’s a national team not a personal team the government still has control as the main financial sponsor.

Average teams like our national team need a lot of crowd support so as to get any sort of result whether it’s a home game or an away. They need to pull crowds back since they also have to compete with the televised games that are way cheaper to watch than a price of match game ticket.

  8. In this hitting economy like ours, Ugandans should be encouraged to watch games of the national team playing by charging manageable gate fees. If you see empty stadiums is a sign that something isn’t right. FUFA should re-evaluation and revise these gate charges.

  9. Ugandans are ignorant and they don’t care that’s why we’re always taken for granted. Ate ye Magogo kisirani kyenyini

    1. The ones u are saying they are ignorant just know they are also in the same boat. At their department, so it’s only u and me 🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬 but nothing to do. God do u hear us really?? 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩

  10. Till Mr M7 leaves power.
But for now, we have no choice but to suffer for a little longer 🙂

  11. I do support uganda cranes with my heart due to am a uganda by birth and by origin no but its quite sad that the fufa and its members decide to exploite us through charging us much money on the entrance hence leaving many supporters outside the stadium and others at home while in our neighbours its low as 3000 or 5000 shillings ….magongo and ur team better realise on that issue concerning to ur football ⚽ … its me @prince Gilbert

  12. Corruption was born in Uganda… So it’s just living it’s normal life 🙂‍↕️

  13. Fufa is not serious. They charge 30000 and end up with few funs. Instead of putting something small and have the numbers. Yet, those who go to watch those games are bodabodas, university students and other casual workers. Few people leave those offices to go and watch most especially those goons in government offices. Just imagine I have to travel from Gulu to Kampala for such a game. We shall always escort other countries….

  14. With the surveys like this more funs are goin to withdraw and to market them back will be a bkg blow,so fufa as to style up

  15. Unlike Dr. Mulindwa who truly loved the game@ got fans black to the stadium to watch our National team, ono Salongo ye just mufeere namukozi wansimbi not to talk of being a puppet for govt. Magogo ssente emusingira buli kimu

  16. If bugingo collected money to build the church till now nothing, just to say.
What do you expect those ones to do. No one is can follow up. The one you expect to follow up is also a victim. And he says maybe let me also do the same in my office. Uganda 🤗🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬we are tired but God See’s all this.

  17. That is broadday robbery. In fact Ugandans don’t know why the government doesn’t intervene in situations like these. And FYI, all sector; transport, education etc.. Ugandans are being robbed.

  18. Who cares..zimumalila mu bala zisinga that ticket price .. so lets just have fun
