Andrew Wambi, outgoing Mbale Heroes chairman says it was a mistake to re-appoint Mbale Heroes as head coach at the club.
The experienced tactician guided the club to premier league promotion after over 17 years but left bitterly after that.
He was however re-appointed while in the premier league when the club parted ways with Richard Malinga early in the 2024/25 season but the marriage could only last a few games as he was forced out before the second round.
“The problems of Mbale Heroes started the day Asaph (Mwebaze) was appointed. Most of the fans didn’t like him,” Andrew Wambi told NBS Sport.
“Before he (Asaph Mwebaze) came, we were performing well, and everything changed after that.”

Wambi however threw a jibe at fans for disrupting the club’s works describing them as noise makers.
“Everyone thinks they can do the coach’s work or the chairman’s work. When you tell them to do the work, you realize they’re just noisemakers.”
Meanwhile, Mwebaze in a post on X reiterated by mocking Wambi.
