Ponsiano Lwakataka and Paul Musaazi revived their chances in the fight for the national rally championship title after securing victory in the EMC Jinja rally over the weekend.
The EMC Jinja rally was the fourth round of the NRC and was anticipated to further draw the lines for title contention.
Lwakataka had fallen back in the championship lead after the Pearl rally but had his guards out to fight for maximum points.
The Mafu mafu driver was sublime in Jinja, edging his rivals for the victory.
He sealed the victory with a 27-second lead. Lwakataka claimed two stage wins of the nine stages of the rally.
Lwakataka now stands second on the NRC leaderboard with 175points; only 12 points behind the leader, Ronald Sebuguzi.
Ronald Sebuguzi and Anthony Mugambwa survived mechanical problems to settle for third place, and with it, maintaining their position on top of the leaderboard with 187 points.

Just like Sebuguzi, Musa Ssegaabwe, and Duncan Mubiru suffered setbacks in Jinja but they would earn valuable points to keep them in the third and fourth positions on the NRC standings, respectively.
Meanwhile, Hassan Alwi and Musa Nsubuga who were unveiling a new car; the Ford Proto exhibited a good performance, bringing their new car to a second position overall on its first outing.

In the two-wheel drive category, Samuel Watendwa topped the class, followed by Julius Semambo and Ibrahim Lubega taking second and third position, respectively.
