Buddo Secondary School football team is set to represent Uganda at the inaugural African School Games due in Algeria (26th July to 5th August 2025).
The reigning Uganda schools’ national football champions have been in intense training under head coach Richard Malinga, a former Uganda Cranes international.
This team was officially flagged off at the school premises on Sunday, 20th July 2025 by the Director of Studies Livingstone Ssenabulya.
“We are proud of you all” Ssenabulya told the players and coaches as he handed over the school and national flags to the captain Dickson Barasa.
“Go and fight gallantly, make your school and country proud. Lets be united to the cause of winning silverware” he added.
Team captain Barasa who led the school the historic triumph over St Mary’s Kitende in Ngora expressed readiness as they travel to North Africa.
“We have prepared well and ready to play our hearts out. The players are physically and mentally ready for the task ahead of us” Barasa stated.
Malinga, the head coach outlined the strategy that the team shall employ match-by-match in Algeria, hinting that the early travel will help his team to acclimatize to the weather.
“We have traveled early to get used to the weather and polish up the team. We shall encounter match by match depending on the opposition faced and use the favourable tactics” Malinga revealed.
Besides football, Uganda will also have representation in Athletics, Swimming, Badminton, Table Tennis, Beach Volleyball, Lawn Tennis and Basketball (3X3).
These games are organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).
