The final spots in the TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championship 2024 will be confirmed after Tuesday’s matches in Group D.
At the Benjamin Mkapa stadium, third placed Congo on a point take on already eliminated Nigeria aiming for victory.
They will however need to win and pray that either of Sudan or Senegal lose in their clash at the Amaan stadium, Zanzibar.
Sudan come into the game on top of the group on superior goal difference after drawing 1-1 with Congo and beating Nigeria 4-0 while Senegal on same points beat the Super Eagles and drew goalless with Congo.
The Falcons of Jeddah, coached by Ghanian Kwesi Appiah will maintain top spot with a draw and that will also eliminate Congo regardless of the result against Eric Chelle’s men.
Appiah says his team will play for maximum points while Souleymane Diallo says same of his local Lions of Teranga.
“Senegal is a big team, and we can’t underrate them,” Appiah admitted. “It’s not going to be a walkover. We’ll need to make sure we fight till the end of the game.”
