Uganda’s St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde basketball team won their third game in four matches at the 2025 FEASSA games in Kakamega county, Western Kenya.

A thrilling encounter between St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde and Kenya’s champions Laiserhill witnessed the Ugandans win 53-47.

James Mading scored a game high 21 points. Others with impressive performances were Mustafa Hamuli, Agok Ichut and George Matenga.

Ian Tyrel and Tom Ater were stand-out players for Laiser Hill who led the opening quarter 23-06.

St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde narrowed the margin to 30-32 by the half time break before leading the third quarter 44-42 and posting 53-47 in the final quarter.

“It was a brave performance” John Omondi, head coach at St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde sighed with relief. “The game was entirely technical and I thank the players for listening to the commands” he added.

The Mukono based side also awaits a nail-biting finisher against Tanzania’s Juhudi SS that only awaits four seconds to be completed.

By the time darkness came, St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde was leading 50-47.

Meanwhile, Amus College (Uganda) fell 56-74 to red-hot ITS Kigali from Rwanda.

Two other Ugandan schools, Seeta High and Kibuli SS also lost to Kenyan opposition; Dagoretti High and Laiser Hill 63-65 and 46-69 respectively.

ITS Kigali (Rwanda) humbled Kenya’s Dagoretti 91-77, Dr Aggrey (Kenya) smiled past Lumala SS (Tanzania) 94-58 and Rwanda’s Marie Reine fell to Kenya’s Lukenya High School 86-72.

Girls:

In the girls’ docket, there were wins for Uganda’s Nabisunsa, St Mary’s Kitende and St Noa Girls Zana.

Nabisunsa Girls overcame Kenya’s Olympic 67-48, St. Mary’s Kitende out-muscled Gahini from Rwanda 58-47 and St Noa Girls Zana out-witted St Joseph (Kenya) 44-43.

The only grey patch was the defeat for Kibuli S.S by Kenya’s Kaya Tiwi (40-50) while Rwanda’s ESB Kamonyi ran over Juhudi SS (Tanzania) 49-34.

Itigi S.S (Tanzania) fell to Kenya’s Butere S.S 79-40.
