Sudan will face Madagascar in the semifinals of 2024 CHAN tournament.
The only remaining CECAFA region member eliminated Algeria 4-2 in post-match penalties during the fourth and last quarterfinal played at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
Normal time of this contest had ended one goal apiece before the extra thirty minutes were added.
MC Alger defender Ayoub Ghezala scored an own goal to give Sudan the lead in the 48th minute.
Algeria equalised through Soufiane Bayazid with 17 minutes to play to send the game into extra-time.
Sudan will now face Islanders Madagascar in the semifinals at the Benjamin Mpaka National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.
The second semifinal will witness Senegal take on Morocco at Mandela National Stadium on Tuesday, 26th August 2025.
Senegal edged Uganda 1-0 during the third quarter final on Saturday.
