The Kabale 7s seem to be going according to script, if your team isn’t KOBs.
The Black Pirates and Heathens went down to the hills of Kabale with one goal in mind: to close the gap on Buffaloes and Walukuba.
The former have played their part, getting into the semifinals, but the latter have also held on. Playing their part wasn’t enough for the Pirates and Heathens; they needed the top 2 to slip up
somewhere on Day 1 or even in the quarter finals, but that hasn’t happened.
Now, even if the Barbarians finish fourth in Kabale, they would still be on top of the table with 112 points.
On the other hand, if the Pirates beat the Heathens in the final, they both go level on 97 points,
but stay 4th and 3rd, regardless.
It may be too early to call it, but I think the Barbarians are on the brink of making history, and we are witnessing it in real time. They would join the elite club of Impis, Buffaloes, Hippos, Pirates, Heathens and KOBs, as the only sides to ever win the National 7s Series.
