The Victoria Sharks and Makerere Impis left the group stages of the National 7s core status qualifiers undefeated, but it was the former that progressed.

After two walk-in-the-park fixtures for Impis against the KIU Crows and Kitgum Lions, the Njeru Hurricanes exposed the cracks within the Makerere boys.

A 22-12 victory for the Impis required reinforcements off the bench for Coach Syrus Ssebuliba’s charges to secure a photo finish.

The Victoria Sharks, who sailed through the central region winning both circuits, found no hard time making it to the Semifinals. Victories against the Mbale Elephants, Buddu Bears and Lira Bulls set them up for a semifinal against the Njeru Hurricanes.

After falling against the Kampani Eagles last year, the Sharks finally have their place in the National 7s series, and are joined by the Mbale Elephants who defeated the Impis 12-07 in their semifinal clash.
