  • JKL Lady Dolphins 69-68 JT Lady Jaguars (4-1)

JKL Lady Dolphins have clinched the fifth National Basketball League Women’s title, thus etching their name in the books of history.

To reach the mark, the Lady Dolphins secured a hard-fought 69-68 victory against JT Jaguars in the NBL Playoffs encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Sunday.

Coming into the game, Lady Dolphins had earlier won four NBL titles in 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2024.

JT Lady Jaguars came out of their blocks early with a 6-0 run before creating a nine-point lead (18-9) at the end of the first period.

Hope Akello started off high in the second period with back-to-back jump shots, cutting the deficit to only five points (13-18). However, at halftime the game was tied 34 apiece.

Coming from the locker rooms, Lady Dolphins found the right rhythm as Angella Zainah Lokwameri concluded the period with a 10-point lead (55-45).

It was a navy end as Rhoda Nagitta concluded the period with a 3-point jumpshot as the Lady Dolphins ran away with a one-point victory.

Hope Akello (14 points), Ritah Imanishimwe (11 points) and Becky Longom (11 points) led the Lady Dolphins in the double digits.

Brenda Kayaga (24 points), Mercy Batamuliza (14 points) and Maimuna (10 points) scored in double figures for the Lady Jaguars.
