The 6th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, continues with aggression across the different venues for the 23 sports disciplines.
In weightlifting, Tuesday, 11th November 2025, will mark the fourth day of action at these games organised by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA).
Uganda’s heavyweight athlete Steven Ojede takes to the weights at the Boulevard SEF Arena 01B under the watchful eye of his coach Khassim Nsubuga.

The Lira district-based weightlifter is optimistic about a great showing at the games in the 94 KG cluster.
“I have prepared well and acclimatised to the conditions in Saudi Arabia. I am mentally fit and ready for the competition on Tuesday,” Ojede stated on the eve of the fight.
The 12-man competition also has Saudi Arabia’s Ali Alothman, the Egyptian duo of Layth Al-Chlaihawi and Karim Ibrahim Ibrahim, Desmond Akano (Nigeria) and Cameroon’s Stephane Tchinda Djou, among others.

Uganda has so far won two medals at these games in Swimming, a gold medal by Anna Gloria Muzito (50M freestyle) and a bronze medal from boxer Alfred Ojok in the light heavyweight category.
Uganda was represented in seven sports disciplines: Swimming, Boxing, Weightlifting, Table Tennis, Athletics, Wrestling and Para-powerlifting.
