It is history in the making as Uganda debuts in the sport of Wrestling at the 6th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) in Riyadh city, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Boulevard SEF Arena 01B is the venue that will host all the games at these games organized by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA).
The duo of Veronica Ayo, Rebecca Israel Amongi and Rodger Mukyeda are the three Uganda players on the team under head coach Shamim Nakayenga Musoke.
First in business will be Ayo in the 57 kg category. Ayo will play against Sezim Zhumanazarova (Kyrgyz) and then Tekouk A. Djamila (Algeria) at 10:14 am and 10:33 am, respectively, in pool B.
The Wrestling team safely arrived in Riyadh on Sunday morning and has since been training at the Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University students’ centre.
“We are focused and ready for action,” Musoke revealed.
Amongi will play on Thursday and Mukyeda on Friday.

By the morning of Wednesday, 19th November 2025, Uganda had accumulated 9 medals from Swimming, Athletics and Table Tennis.
Uganda was represented in seven sports disciplines: swimming, boxing, weightlifting, swimming, Table Tennis, athletics, wrestling and para-powerlifting.
