- Silver: Simba Cherop (Uganda) – 29:06:58
- Bronze: Abel Chebet (Uganda) – 29:07:63

The impressive run of Uganda at the 6th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, continues.
On Tuesday evening, team Uganda took the tally to 9 medals. This was after two runners, Samuel Simba Cherop and Abel Chebet, finishing among the top three in the men’s 10,000m finals held at the state-of-the-art Prince Faisal Bin Fahad stadium.

Whereas Chebet is confirmed for bronze, whilst Cherop and Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew are still contesting for the gold and silver in the boardroom.
Balew blocked Cherop as he was overtaking him at the finishing line. The technical team of the games is expected to come up with a ruling as soon as possible to allow the medal presentation ceremony.

It is a busy Wednesday for Team Uganda in Riyadh. Athletics continues and so will be Wrestling.
In Athletics, Uganda has finalists in the men’s 1500m (Tom Dradriga), women’s 800m (Halim Nakaayi), men’s 400m (Hadoli) and the women’s 5000m (Charity Cherop and Risper Cherop).
Wrestling also starts on Wednesday with Veronica Ayo facing Sezim Zhumanazarova and Tekouk A Djamila from Kyrgyzstan and Algeria, respectively, in the women’s 57kg cluster. Para-Power lifter Dennis Mbaziira competes on Friday, 21st November.
So far, Uganda’s other medals have come from Swimming, Table Tennis and Boxing.
