SC Villa moved into second place on the Premier League table after a hard-fought 2-1 win over visitors NEC at the Fufa Stadium, Kadiba, on Thursday.

Najib Yiga and substitute Elvis Ngonde scored the goals for the Jogoos while Daniel Shabena got the visitors’ consolation.

Following a goalless first half, Villa broke the deadlock when Yiga slotted home off a knockdown from Frank Ssebuufu two minutes into the second half.

Three minutes to time, Ngonde finished off a sweeping counter-attacking move to seal the win with Man of the Match Hassan Mubiru setting him up beautifully, leaving Hannington Ssebwalunyo on the ground.
