Ronald Sebuguzi and Anthony Mugambwa are the 2025 National Rally Champions after crossing the final finish of the season finale in Hoima district over the weekend.
The Shell team in the Ford Fiesta Proto only needed eight points from the Kabalega rally but collected more with a fourth-place finish in Hoima.
Sebuguzi finally ended his hunt for what had become an elusive fourth crown.
“It was not an easy season. We have worked hard amidst many challenges until we won,” said an excited Sebuguzi.
“I brought in this car hoping to win a title in the near future. But it has taken us three years to secure a title,” he added.

Sebuguzi has, on several occasions, been so close to the fourth title only to miss out when it mattered.
In the 2018 season finale, Sebuguzi was leading the championship and lost the title in the first stage of the Mbale rally. A similar scenario happened at the Masaka rally in 2017.
Sebuguzi recalls the moment that put them back in the title race this year.
“Gulu rally was the turning point for us. Many didn’t expect us to perform, but the story changed when we finished second while our rivals dropped out. That put us back on the title,” he said.
Sebuguzi now joins Jas Mangat and Charlie Lubega as the drivers counting four titles to their names.

The championship win also earns Anthony Mugambwa his second consecutive NRC co-driver’s title.
Duncan Mubiru registered another impressive victory to end the year on a high while Musa Sseggabwe finished second to seal a first runner-up spot in the championship.
Umar Dauda completed the Kabalega Rally podium in third.
