Buvuma Sailors had not dropped a game on their way to the final of the Mukono T20 Cup but they failed to get past Lugazi Trekkers in the most important game of the tournament.

Lugazi Trekkers outsmarting the unbeaten Buvuma Sailors in an entertaining final at the Florida Oval.

The week long Mukono T20 Cup attracted six teams that played a round robin format with the top two sides contesting the final.

Buvuma Sailors managed to collect wins and remain unbeaten enroute to the final but a resilient Lugazi Trekkers managed to defend 15 runs in the final over to win the first edition.

Lugazi Trekkers won the toss and elected to bat first. They piled on a competitive 150/8 in their 20 overs with contributions through out the whole team.

In the run chase, Harshal Panchal (84) held things together even with wickets falling around him, and with 15 required off the final over it was down to him, but when the first two balls didn’t go for boundaries there was too much pressure on him to execute. He managed to blunder a six on the third ball but he fell on the next delivery and that wicket was enough for Lugazi Trekkers to close out the game.

Emetu Paul was the hero for Lugazi Trekkers for holding his nerve and being able to defend 15 runs against a set batter.

Lugazi walked away with cash prize of 400,000 for being winners while Buvuma Sailors collected 250,000 as the runners up of the inaugural edition.

The other four teams in the tournament included Mukono Development, Buikwe Gladiators, Njeru Warriors and Kayunga Titans.
