Mbarara City played out a one-all draw with Entebbe UPPC in a Uganda Premier League encounter at Rwamwanja Stadium on Wednesday.
Muhammed Kanyike and Ambrose Kigozi scored for Mbarara City and Entebbe UPPC respectively as the two sides shared spoils.
Mbarara City employed a highly physical game, battling fiercely for every possession and preventing UPPC from establishing its usual rhythm.
The deadlock was broken in the 73rd minute when Kanyike found the back of the net, capitalising on a rebound.
However, the visitors responded quickly. Just six minutes later, Kigozi levelled the score for UPPC, finishing off a delightful team play after being set up by Hassan Senyonjo.
In the dying minutes of the game, UPPC pressed hard, throwing bodies forward in search of a late winner, but Mbarara City’s backline remained firm and resolute.
Following the draw, UPPC moves to fifth position on the league table with 14 points. Mbarara City remains near the bottom, sitting 15th with only six points after playing nine games.
