  • Police 4-0 Buhimba United
  • Mbarara City 1-1 Entebbe UPPC

Police returned to winning ways with a dominant 4-0 victory over struggling Buhimba United in the Uganda Premier League encounter at the Police Arena, Kira on Wednesday.

The win was a strong response after being edged out by Kitara in their previous league match.

Goals from Denis Kalanzi, Umaru Kasumba, Saidi Kyeyune, and Derrick Maviiri sealed the impressive win in front of the home crowd.

Kalanzi was an early threat, nearly giving Police the lead when he shrugged off his marker and forced a fine save from Buhimba United goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba.

Kalanzi eventually fired the hosts ahead in the 28th minute. Kiyimba struggled to handle Lawrence Tezikya’s low drive, leaving Kalanzi perfectly positioned to tap home the rebound.

Just before the break, in the 45th minute, Brian James Obedi intercepted a pass on the left flank and set up Kasumba, who smartly slotted the ball home from close range to double the lead.

The second half saw Saidi Kyeyune, the eventual Man of the Match, extend Police’s advantage after Kalanzi turned provider.

Maviiri put the icing on the cake, scoring the fourth goal thanks to a precise delivery from Emmanuel Mugume, punishing his former club.

The victory sends Police up to third position on the table with 17 points.

Meanwhile, Buhimba United suffered their sixth consecutive defeat, compounding their struggles after picking up three straight wins at the start of the campaign. They now sit 13th with nine points after playing nine games.
