USSSA top brass officials led by the president Justus Mugisha, CEO Chris Mugisa and other executive committee members were joined by the officials from Government; National Council of Sports (NCS) and the Ministry of Education and Sports.

It is the apex of 2025 and the Uganda Secondary Schools’ Sports Association (USSSA) is climaxing the year on a strong footing with a big statement of intent.

Two delegations of Volleyball and football were officially flagged off on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025 at the Copper Chimney Restaurant, Kampala.

The volleyball cluster is representing Uganda at the ISF U-15 Volleyball championship to take place in Shangluo province, China.

This constitutes of players from Mengo Secondary School, International School of Uganda (ISU) and ARCONS International School.

The football category has St Mary’s SS Kitende (boys) and Kawempe Muslim (Girls) in the CAF CECAFA zone qualifiers due in Uganda.

“This is the second successive time that Uganda is hosting the CECAFA zonal qualifiers We are ready. Our schools have performed exceptionally well. We also expect them to do well this time round again and qualify” Mugisha revealed.

Commissioner from the ministry of education and sports Rev. Canon Dr. Duncans Mugumya who was the chief guest lauded the youngsters and urged them to remain hardworking at all times.

“You are carrying the hopes of 45 plus million Ugandans. Be patriotic disciplined and work hard. Represent the country with love” Rev. Canon Dr Mugumya stated.

The National Council of Sports was ably represented by the Deputy Secretary General Milton Chebet.

Chebet hailed the progress of Uganda Secondary Schools’ Sports Association (USSSA) in as far as nurturing young talents is concerned.

“We have had a successful sporting year as a country. Your task now is to keep the candle burning and fly the Ugandan flag even higher” Chebet called.

Sammy Odongo, Douglas Kabwegyere are some of the officials and a couple of parents who will accompany the Volleyball delegation.

USSSA executive committee member Grace Violah Kyolaba will lead the football contingent with the matches at St Mary’s Stadium (boys) and FUFA Kadiba Stadium (girls).

This year Uganda also took part in the ISF football competition in China as well as the ISF schools golf championship in Morocco.
