Kitara edge URA in a slim 1-0 victory in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Thursday evening.

Patrick Henry Kaddu was on target as the Royals bagged maximum points on the day away from home.

The visitors were awarded a penalty after Jimmy Kalema’s delivery bounced off a Tax Collector in the area.

Kaddu stepped up and successfully converted from the 12-yard mark to place the visitors in the driver’s seat two minutes into the game.

URA nearly levelled matters through Nelson Ssenkatuka but the forward’s effort narrowly went wide in the 12th minute of the game.

Kitara’s backline had a tough evening to deal with URA right back Justine Opiro’s long throw-ins all through the opening period.

Isaac Amutuhairwe’s low effort was smartly blocked by defender Ronald Otti in the 34th minute as Kitara kept knocking on the door.

A minute away from the halftime break, Otti put a clear chance to level matters to waste as he rose highest in the area but guided the ball off target.

In the 82nd minute, lanky URA defender Arthur Kiggundu missed a free header in front of the goal.

The victory takes Kitara to fourth place with 16 points after eight games, while URA lies eighth with 11 points after nine games.
