NEC holds Vipers in a one-all draw in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Phillip Omondi Stadium on Friday evening.

Innocent Media nearly gave NEC the lead in the second minute but his low drive but Vipers’ goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza pushed it out for a corner kick.

Livingstone Mulondo tripped Media in the area in the 20th minute and the referee awarded the hosts a penalty.

Mustapha Kizza stepped up to the occasion and sent Mudekereza the wrong way thus placing NEC in the driving seat.

Media beat his marker on the right flank but his powerful effort was saved by Vipers custodian Mudekereza in the 35th minute.

Hard-tackling midfielder Taddeo Lwanga was replaced by Milton Karisa in the 43rd minute as Vipers threw several bodies.

Five minutes into the second stanza, Milton Karisa levelled matters with a powerful effort that forced the visitors to raise in jubilation.

Despite Vipers’ efforts to bag maximum points, NEC’s backline stood tall and firm to keep their goal area safe from any kind of threat.

After picking a point, Vipers are on top of the log with 17 points after seven games, while NEC lie eighth with 11 points after nine games.
