NEC will be desperate to pick a victory when they host champions Vipers at MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo on Friday.
The Bugolobi based side have had an abysmal stop start season winning two, losing two and drawing four times this season.
This has kept them in the bottom half of the season with 10 points from 8 matches so far.
Badru Kaddu who replaced Hussein Mbalangu has picked just one victory and pressure is mounting on him to get the team winning matches again.
The former Express gaffer has promised an improved show on Friday against the champions who have won five of their six matches and target top spot with a win.
“We have improved the boys and we are ready for the game. We have worked on putting away chances which has been our Achilles heel this season so far,” said Badru.
The hosts who won the corresponding fixture 3-1 last season will miss the services of Daniel Shabena, Titus Ssematimba and Muzamir Mutyaba through injury.
On the other hand, Vipers are fresh from a 5-1 win over UPDF and will aim to build on that.
Allan Okello, Yunus Sentamu and Usama Arafat are expected to lead the line for the champions.
Elsewhere, UPDF make a trip to Najjembe to face hosts Lugazi with either desperate for three points to try climb up the log away from the red zone.
