Vipers SC registered a 2-1 victory against Lugazi in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe on Wednesday.
Usama Arafat and Yunus Sentamu scored for Vipers while Ashraf Mulindi pulled one back for Lugazi.
Usama tapped into the back net in the ninth minute after Juma Mutembi palmed the ball into his path as he tried to deal with Milton Karisa’s effort.
In the 20th minute, Odili Chukwuma came close to doubling Vipers’ lead but his low effort bounced off the outside of the goalpost.
Karim Watambala tested Lugazi goalkeeper Juma Mutebi from distance with a powerful effort but the custodian dealt with it emphatically in the 35th minute.
Sentamu looped the ball past the on running goalkeeper Mutebi and the ball rolled into an empty net in the 74th minute.
Mulindi pulled back one in the 89th minute but it was late to give the hosts anything positive.
The victory takes Vipers to the second position with 24 points in 10 games while Lugazi lie 14th with 10 points in 11 games.
