CAF has appointed Congolese referee Jean-Jacques Ndala to officiate the opening game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations between hosts Morocco and Comoros.

The tournament will get underway this Sunday, December 21, 2025 at the Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat.

Ndala, 38, will be officiating at his fourth AFCON tournament, having served at all the previous three editions (2019, 2021 and 2023).

Dahane Beida from Mauritania has been appointed to take charge of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties.

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025 through to January 18, 2026, with 24 countries set to battle for the coveted trophy.
