Uganda Cranes coach Paul Put was in front of the media on Monday afternoon ahead of tomorrow’s Group C encounter against Tunisia at Stade Olympique Annexe Complexe Sportif Prince Abdellah.
Here’s everything he had to say on the following subjects….
On Morocco being perfect hosts
If you look at the organization, the facilities here, everything is amazing and as Uganda, we are proud to be here and we will make sure that we perform to our level.
On the game against Tunisia tomorrow
All the players have their motivation high because playing at AFCON is a good platform for the World to see you. So, we are prepared and ready for the game tomorrow.
On team news
Rogers Mato, Jude Ssemugabi, Jordan Obita all had issues but we have been working on them in the last few days and I believe everyone is ready, starting with the game against Tunisia.
On the team not training on Saturday
We want to keep everything internal but what I can say is we are all in one piece and the focus is entirely on the upcoming games, starting with tomorrow against Tunisia.
On Tunisia’s poor record in the last AFCON tournaments, where they have only won one of their ten group games.
I’m not moved by records. What I know is that Tunisia is a very good side capable of getting results against every team. So our preparations will be focused on where we can hurt them, not their previous performance.
On the introduction of the Africa Nations League
I believe by the time CAF announced the new changes, they must have done good research. I have been in Africa for the last 20 years and I have seen the evolution of football, so we wait to see what the Africa Nations League will look like.
