El Cambio Academy’s mission aligns with President Museveni and NRM's emphasis on sports development.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has officially opened the new El Cambio Football Academy training facility in Masaka city on Tuesday, 22nd December 2025.

The president was joined by the academy founder, Thomas Thor, music artist Moses “Bebe Cool” Ssali and other officials.

This academy is aimed at nurturing young talent and promoting sports development in the Masaka sub-region.

“The El Cambio Football Academy has a vision to change lives on and off the field and provide education.  Football plus character development to its students” President Museveni stated.

El Cambio Football Academy has already gained recognition, with some of its players representing Uganda in international competitions including the recent 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup (Qatar) and the on-going AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco.

James Bogere is part of the 28-man squad for Uganda Cranes at AFCON 2025.

Bogere and Hamuza Ssengooba have already signed professional contracts with Danish topflight club AGF.

The academy is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a standard size artifical soccer turf, school, dormitories, gym, medical room, Video analysis room, trophy cabinet, kitchen name it.

El Cambio Academy’s mission aligns with President Museveni and NRM’s emphasis on sports development.

The President has been instrumental in promoting sports infrastructure growth in Uganda, including the construction of stadia like Mandela National Stadium, Kyambogo University, FUFA Kadiba stadium, Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium, Hoima City Stadium and Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium, among others.
