Uganda Cranes forward Denis Omedi believes the team will make amends for their false start at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a disappointing start.

Uganda suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat at the hands of Tunisia on Tuesday in Rabat.

Omedi came off the bench in the second half to score the consolation goal for Uganda deep in stoppage time.

The 31-year old forward is optimistic the team will improve in the next games if the mistakes made against Tunisia are worked upon.

“There was no much difference just that they used their chances, dominated the game early and a few errors here and there of which if worked upon, I believe we will get back into the next games and get positive results,” said Omedi.

About the next game against Tanzania, Omedi believes the team must address the mistakes made in the game against Tunisia.

“It is simple, you know its not like calling players from everywhere, we are always together. It is just a matter of sitting down and seeing the things we didn’t do well.” He said.

Derby games are always hard to predict and Omedi is well aware of this.

“A derby is always a derby, it has no direct order but at the moment, I think we need it more than them. We must show anger and fight for every ball.”

About scoring at AFCON, Omedi indicated, “ it is a dream come true, I really wanted it and it is what I have been praying for. Before the game, I called mummy and we prayed together. It is what I have been asking from God right from the qualifiers and I believe there is more to come.”

Uganda returns to action on Saturday against Tanzania who lost 2-1 to Nigeria in their first group game.
