Uganda Cranes defender Elio Capradossi was a shock omission from the team’s squad in the 3-1 defeat to Tunisia.
His place at centre back was taken by Vipers’ Rogers Torach with head coach Paul Put later revealing why he missed out.
“During our last training, Elio suffered an injury on his back and we had to take him to hospital,” Put told Kawowo Sports after the game.
“However, he couldn’t feature against Tunisia and we now wait to see if he will be fit and ready to face Tanzania in our next game,” he added.
The Cranes will face the Taifa Stars, also wounded in a 2-1 defeat to Nigeria on Saturday December 27 with both aware that defeat could surely hand them an early exit from the tournament.
