Alex Isabirye began his second era as coach of BUL FC on a positive note, securing victory against Calvary FC on Wednesday.

The gaffer returned to Eastern Giants a week ago, replacing Abbey Kikomeko Bogere and the former has commenced his second stint with a 1-0 win over bottom placed Clavary FC at Midigo Primary School Playground.

The lone goal of the came in the tenth minute through veteran forward Karim Ndugwa.

Before his re-appointment, the Eastern Giants had gone eight games without victory, including five successive defeats. This performance prompted the club top brass to make changes in the technical team.

The appointment of Isabirye was already in the offing even when Kikomeko was still in charge. When the former was sacked by URA FC at the start of December, he was in the stands with club Chairman Ronald Barente as BUL FC lost to KCCA FC.

In the club history, Isabirye is the most successful manager, having guided them to Uganda Cup victory in 2022. His appointment therefore comes as renewed hope for the club to revive title ambitions.

Today’s victory takes the club to 8th place on 13 points while Calvary FC remain rooted to the base of the pile on 3 points.
