Black Pirates will start the National Rugby Premiership title defence with a showdown against KOBs at King’s Park.

The 2026 rugby season is set tokick off on Saturday, February 7, with the Men’s and Women’s 15s championships as well as the Reserve Championship kicking off.

The opening weekend will be highlighted by the match-up between defending champions Pirates and rivals KOBs. The two sides last met ina fierce Uganda Cup semifinal that Pirates edged by a point.

In the other opening weekend fixtures, Heathens will entertain freshers Kakira at Kyadondo, returning Makerere Impis will host Warriors at the Graveyard, Rhinos will battle Victoria Sharks at Legends, while Mongers and Buffaloes will make the trip across the Nile to take on Walukuba Barbarians and Hippos respectively.

In the women’s 15s League, defending champions Thunderbirds will battle Uganda Cup winners Nile Rapids at the Ruckyard in Jinja, Black Pearls host Ewes at King’s Park while Panthers willmake the longest journey of the weekend to the eastern city of Mbale to battle She Wolves.
