“Home is where your heart is” is a timeless adage that underscores the emotional essence of belonging.
It reminds us that sometimes home is not a room with four walls, but rather the shared gaze and synchronized heartbeats of those we love, highlighting our truest sense of home.
To Uganda Cranes and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) forward, Ivan “The Hunter” Ahimbisibwe, his heart eternally belongs to Mbarara Soccer Academy (MSA).
The Academy educated him the basics A,B,C lessons of football, discipline, diligence and deliverance.

True to the word, he returned to the academy base and offered an assortment of equipment (15 balls, 2 sets of jerseys, training cones) and yes, cash.
His message emitted was conveyed from deep within his heart as well with cheerful faces off the youngsters at the academy.
I am very appreciative of the sports academy family, and coach Salim Twaha in particular, for the parental love and proper upbringing. If not for Mbarara Soccer Academy (MSA), I would not have reached this level, as my career would have taken a different turn. I was welcomed here and groomed with love, which is why I have come back to say thank you.

He also delivered a special message to the young players at the Academy scripted on a blue shirt “One Thing: Keep Believing, Don’t Give Up”
Ahimbisibwe’s football journey was minted at MSA under coach Salim who has groomed so many talented players.




He later shifted base to Synergy Football Club under Brian Ssenyondo, another key parental architect in his football career.
Christened as the “Hunter” given his poaching exploits for goals, Ahimbisibwe was signed by Nyamityobora in the 2019-2020 season.
Ssenyondo, now at KCCA as a co-head coach lured him to Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) in the torrid COVID-19 season of 2020.
Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) came calling for his treasured signature where he scored 16 goals in 35 appearances under two seasons (2023-2025).
He is currently employed at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), reuniting with Ssenyondo.
On the national senior team, he has played at the CHAN (co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda) and AFCON (in Morocco) championships and probably, these are ladder steps to featuring beyond the boarder confines of Uganda in his professional journey.

For starters, Ahimbisibwe prides in his home town of Kacence in Mbarara.
He is a graduate in Social Work and Social Administration (SWSA) having attended elementary education at Mbarara Modern Primary School and Uganda Martyrs Primary School.

Nyakayojo Secondary School was his O-Level confine, completing Advanced Level of education at St Andrew’s Secondary School in Rubindi.
His academic excellence vis-à-vis the football career justifies a natural balance of talents, another big inspiration to the young generation.
To Ahimbisibwe, the sky is definitely the limit.
